Yonder – Anywhere But Here (Industry Partner: School of Technology for the Arts, Republic Polytechnic)

A poster to tease on what this year’s Symbiosis would embody. It focuses on the mascots and logo as they are the key aspects for this event; the logo being the theme, look and feel for Symbiosis 2.2, and MonSTArs being STA’s first ever mascots to be created, giving each diploma its identity.
Along with the tea towel design, a belly band design is created as well. We decided that the belly band would look a little simpler so that it strikes a balance with the tea towel, since the tea towel has much more vibrant colours and complex designs.
Above is the UI Style Guide for the refined Symbiosis website. We changed the colours to the colour palette that is agreed upon, as well as the fonts used. We decided to add in the mascots at the footer to further enhance the theme on the site.
Above is the moodboard created to map an idea of the colours, look and feel as well as illustration style would be. After rounds of research and ideation, this version has come to be approved before proceeding with the drafts of collaterals
These are the very first sketch variations of mascots and the teatowel. This was a stage of figuring out a suitable illustration style so that both illustrations for the mascots and landmarks would look packaged.
Above are the social media layout variations done up during the whole creative process. We explored layouts that are interconnected as well as layouts that are “themed” and displayed individually in a way that still looks cohesive as a whole.
We decided to go with the latter instead.
This is our in-progress end tag. This end tag comprises of interaction of mascots to help enhance and bring the event’s theme to life. We thought it would be a good idea to relate the end tag back to our theme and it’s key component of the event.

PROJECT INFO:

Our team ideated and designed the mascots, fonts and full visual themes for Symbiosis 2.2 - an annual graduation showcase for RP’s School of Technology for the Arts (STA) graduating students. We worked on the logo and mascots as the key aspects, because the logo carries the theme, look and feel for Symbiosis 2.2; while the five mascots (titled MonSTArs) will be the school’s first ever mascots created representing each of the 5 diplomas under STA. These key aspects were then weaved across all SYMBIOSIS 2.2 communications such as social media content, website and virtual gallery. Other theme-related collaterals were also designed to engage the audience in sync with the event’s theme of Yonder - Anywhere But Here.
